EnsaimadArt is a new project where various artists were asked to design a round label for the traditional Ensaimada pastry boxes of Mallorca. The project is a collaborative charity project and all profits from the sales of the boxes will be used to create working opportunities for disabled people, so when we were asked to join we of course said yes!
You can read more about the lovely project and other participating artists and designers on It’s Nice That here.
Tonight Sustainia will be awarding the best sustainable solution among 100 nominated projects from all over the world. The winner of Sustainia’s Community Award will also be announced. And we have designed the awards – which will be handed over to the winners by none other than Arnold Schwarzenegger, Honorary Chair of the Sustainia Award Committee, at the Royal Theater in Copenhagen. This is our very first award design project, and we were very happy to work with glass artists Karin Mørch and Torben Jørgensen who crafted the awards. Carpenter and designer Benjamin Nordsmark made the wooden bases. Fingers crossed that we get to say hi to Mr. Schwarzenegger!

Efterklang – Under Giant Trees
We spent most of today preparing the stage elements for Efterklang’s show at the Royal Academy of Music’s Concert Hall October 9th and 10th. It is perhaps one of the most beautiful spaces in Copenhagen, and a very nice place to spend time in. Here are some work-in-progress photos – we got to crawl around under the ceiling, hanging our striped wooden sticks from small holes, with very nice views from above.
And here’s our amazing intern Bettina!
We have made a music video! This is a new field to us, and it turned out to be an extremely fun process, involving lots of bare skin and unforeseeable amounts of laughing. The video is for Efterklang’s single Apples from their latest album Piramida, and it premiered yesterday on Huffington Post! We collaborated with Oodls who also created the video for Hollow Mountain earlier this fall. Thank you to Berit Stenstrup for back-up footage, and Thomas Jauk for letting us use his photo studio in Berlin.
Here are some stills showing parts of our process – not all of them made it into the video but we thought it’d be fun to share them here. You can see more images on our work site here.
Last week, just as the cold grey weather was beginning to take over, we were lucky to be invited to speak at the Get Set Design Festival in Porto, Portugal. So we flew down a couple of days ago and presented our work at the Cinema Trindade, a very interesting cinema space that was closed down ten years ago, and has recently been re-opened to host occasional cultural events. We had a fantastic little trip, and it was especially fun and inspiring to meet the other designers who also guested the Festival and hear about their work, among others Shape Your Head, Ivan Bravo and Lucas Gutierrez. We even found out that we have a fan in Porto, and we got to give our first autographs! (outside of China…) :-D
If we ever move to Porto we are going to have a studio in this building. It’s very nice! All it needs is a roof.
We just posted some photos of the Piramida artwork on our website, showing the CD and vinyl package, for all of you who don’t have the real thing. Here’s a selection of the photos, see more under our work site. It’s Nice That was so kind as to write a post about the project, which you can read here.
