The photogravure prints we made in December are now available in our webshop! Limited edition of 20, signed and numbered. Interior is a remake of an illustration we once did for Form Magazine. Piramida and Svalbard are both based on our artwork for Efterklang’s latest album Piramida. Brush #1 and #2 are abstractions of brush strokes with fragments of illustration.
We will be screening Efterklang & Andreas Koefoed’s documentary The Ghost of Piramida at our studio on February 22nd. If you’d like to come, follow this link to find our screening and click attend! :–) There are only 10 spaces available. It will be a combined Friday bar and film screening, so bring a bottle of something, and perhaps a cushion, and we will provide snacks! We’ll show the film with a projector.
The Piramida Concerts in which Efterklang have played with symphony orchestras across Europe and in New York have almost come to an end! We found out that there are all these amazing photos from the shows online. Here is a little selection – we especially chose some that show good views of our hanging stage elements and the visual projections we did for this tour.
This one, by Judith Dekker, is from Efterklang’s show in Brussels
And this photo from the Barbican show in London is by Erik Sellgren
Here are a few by Ruth Arnold from Efterklang’s show at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York.
And here’s another one from Brussels, from Efterklang’s own flickr page.
We spent most of today preparing the stage elements for Efterklang’s show at the Royal Academy of Music’s Concert Hall October 9th and 10th. It is perhaps one of the most beautiful spaces in Copenhagen, and a very nice place to spend time in. Here are some work-in-progress photos – we got to crawl around under the ceiling, hanging our striped wooden sticks from small holes, with very nice views from above.
And here’s our amazing intern Bettina!
We have made a music video! This is a new field to us, and it turned out to be an extremely fun process, involving lots of bare skin and unforeseeable amounts of laughing. The video is for Efterklang’s single Apples from their latest album Piramida, and it premiered yesterday on Huffington Post! We collaborated with Oodls who also created the video for Hollow Mountain earlier this fall. Thank you to Berit Stenstrup for back-up footage, and Thomas Jauk for letting us use his photo studio in Berlin.
Here are some stills showing parts of our process – not all of them made it into the video but we thought it’d be fun to share them here. You can see more images on our work site here.
We just posted some photos of the Piramida artwork on our website, showing the CD and vinyl package, for all of you who don’t have the real thing. Here’s a selection of the photos, see more under our work site. It’s Nice That was so kind as to write a post about the project, which you can read here.
Have you been wondering what an edible rendition of the Efterklang Piramida artwork might look like? Here’s the answer!
:–D These special Piramida cakes, made together with the lovely Sara Davis, were a surprise for Efterklang at their release party last night in Berlin. We made an album cover carrot cake, a pyramid shaped lemon cake and a chocolate planet cake. Uhmm!! A huge congratulations to Efterklang on their best yet. The album is out on Monday by the way.
How to make a Piramida cake….
Exiting news: Efterklang’s new single Apples from their forthcoming album Piramida has just been released today – you can listen to it here – and the single cover is of course designed by us. (If the player doesn’t work, you can download the MP3 instead)
Right now we are also working on a music video for Apples, together with Jakob Steen, who made Efterklang’s last video for the single Hollow Mountain. It’s really exiting and fun work and we can’t wait to show it! The video will be released already next week.
Efterklang have just announced the release of their 4th album which will come out later this year, on September 24th. Here’s a sneak peak of the front cover which we designed, the rest is still in the making. Read more about Efterklang’s exiting project on their new website, and you can also see a trailer by Andreas Koefoed.
Yahuuuuuuu! We just completed our Master’s degrees from The Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts / School of Design a couple of days ago. It sounds so good, doesn’t it? Finally we are no longer students. We had our big exam on Thursday where we presented our final thesis project that we’ve been working on for the past 4 months: Video projections and stage design for Efterklang’s Piramida Concerts, of which the first took place at the Sydney Opera House in May. If you want to read more about this project visit our Work site. And here’s a list of where Efterklang will be playing their Piramida Concerts this fall. If you live in Copenhagen, don’t miss their show at Konservatoriets Koncertsal on October 10th.
Here are a few stills from some of the projections we made – they are mostly black & white animations based on analogue experiments and mixed with film and photography.
